There are no Thunderbolt 3 docks on the market (that I’m aware of) that will natively accept a Thunderbolt 2 connector for the monitor so you still have to use that Apple 2 to 3 adapter.
I have am using the Apple 2 to 3 Thunderbolt adapter, but that would mean that I would have to plug-in TWO cables for power and the monitor and that is frankly unacceptable. To add to this for reference in hopes that someone in my situation may find it and it also may help you.
